BIG TIP FOR ANY PALADIN INTERESTED IN TANKING: http://tanking.sneakykitty.com/?page_id=14
the site that rly tells u all

***Taken for WoW forums: http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=273317544&sid=1
***

Now before i go into this there are few things everyone should know about paladins (and all these can be looked up on the armory if you care to do a little research and know ANYTHING about math.

These are:

Pally base HP is 3377
When you add in stam (including the base Stam) your HP gained are (Stam*10)-180

Therefore your total HP is (stam*10)-3197+HPGAINED ((this last bit is enchants that are just HP) )

For avoidance (now note i am adding block here into avoidance even tho it is technically mitigation - the reason i am doing this is because block counts towards your total avoidance goal of 102.4%)

So the avoidance equations are:

Def: [(rating/2.4)+20]/25*4 = total avoidance from def

Parry: rating/35.1 + base (usually 5 or 10%) = parry percentage

Dodge: rating/18.9 + base (this is usually 5% but may be slightly different) = dodge percentage

Block: rating/7.9 + base (Usually 5%) = block percentage

Miss: base miss of 5% + [(def over 350)-(350)]*.04

Now we're not going to subtract anything from these because we're already calculating it in with our goal being 102.4%

Ok now that all that fun stuff is out of the way... lets get to the gear. (skip to the end if all you want is the summary of stats) ::

Head: Helm of Righteousness
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28285

Enchant: Glyph of the Defender
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=29186

Neck: Strength of the Untamed
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=29173

Shoulder: Spaulders of the Righteous
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27739

Enchant: Greater Inscription of the Knight
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28911

Back: Devilshark Cape
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27804

Enchant: Dodge
http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=25086

Chest: Jade-Skull Breastplate
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28262

Enchant: Exceptional Health
http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=27957

Wrist: Bracers of the Green Fortress
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=23538

Enchant: Major Defense
http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=27906

Hands: Felsteel Gloves
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=23517

Enchant: Superior Agility
http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=25080
(Note: this enchant can be switched for the major Spellpower one if you need the threat gen)

Waist: Girdle of the Immovable
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27672

Legs: Timewarden's Leggings
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=29184

Enchant: Clefthide Leg Armor
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=29534

Feet: Boots of the Colossus
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27813

Enchant: Fortitude
http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=27950

Ring 1: Protector's Mark of the Redemption
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=31078

Ring 2: Elementium Band of the Sentry
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28407

Trinket 1: Adamantine Figurine
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27891

Trinket 2: Figurine of the Colossus
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27529

Weapon: Continuum Blade
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=29185

Enchant: Major Spellpower
http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=27975

Shield: Crest of the Sha'tar
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=29176

Enchant: Shield Block
http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=27946

Libram: Libram of Repentance
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=29388

Gems: Solid Star of Elune
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=24033

Ok now for the summary of all those stats.

Sta: 467 (from gear) + 123 (base for a BE) + 192 (16 gem slots all filled with +12sta gems) = 782 * 1.06(the talent any decent protadin will have) == 828.92 stam

Def: 345 Rating: [(345/2.4)+20]/25*4 = 26.2 avoidance from Def (block/dodge/parry/miss)

Block: 82 Rating: 82/7.9 = 10.4 Avoidance

Dodge: 118 Rating: 118/18.9 = 6.24 Avoidance

Parry: 0 = 0

SO:

That stam == 11,606 Hp
Total Block = 21.95
Total Dodge = 17.79
Total Parry = 16.55
Total miss = 11.55
Block From HS = 35%

All this together makes :

HP = 11606
Avoidance = 102.8%

So as i said 11.5k HP and Uncrushable.

Oh and if you don't want to go to heroics for the belt or boots... you can replace them with:

Flesh Beast's Metal Greaves
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=29325

And

Sha'tari Vindicator's Waistguard
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=31460

Now this will drop you down about 50 sta or 530 Hp's But personally i think 11k and uncrushable is fine if you don't want to deal with the heroics before Kara.

Oh and as a side note... if anyone finds fault in my math here PLEASE let me know... this is all the gear I am going for so it would be nice if i could know before hand that i'm wrong LOL (though i know i'm not)

so mainly, there are a few situations a palatank can find himself in: Small grp,Big grps (3+mobs),Boss, and even: OOM!!(damn, no pots :/) ofc you need to react to everything in a different way, but the essence of it all remains the same rly one of the most important things about palatanking is routine (and not forgetting your treath buff!) u should always go with "the shield pull thingie"-holy shield-seal/judge-conc that way you normally will not have cd's ending in the same time, wich results in a nice and smooth constant stream of agro! if u took a look at the site above, u will see that my routine is slightly different, altho his routine is better, i am very used to the one below, it rly doesn't matter that much tbh

Small grps:
the shield pull thing (omg forgot the name!)
holy shield rdy?
SoR/SoC (seal of righteousness/seal of command) the main dps target
conc ofk
SoV(seal of vengeance) while the judgment skill is on cd
SoR/SoC when judgement is up

and that is about it.
Big grps and bosses are quite the same, only at big grps u just do this routine until the first mob is down (if there is no idiotic clothie AE'ing ofc) and then just get SoW (seal of wisdom) up so u can keep on concecrating!

@ bosses ur routine should b like this

Avenging wrath/dmg trinkets or w/ers
throw shield
SoC/SoR
holy shield
conc
vengeance when judgement is on cd
this is where the fun starts, if u manage to get 5 stacks of vengeance, judge it, otherwise judge SoC/SoR one more time
vengeance again and when the cd returns, do a SoW and judge it! (you will b gratefull later on in the fight)

::: Note ::: some bosses have agro loss or smthing, get wisdom and vengeance dot's up asap, otherwise regain agro will b like making a chicken dancing the polka while he is stealing spottys vodka= major impossible (w/o pots ofc)

when ur oom: pot
if no pots, ur basicly screwed if the fight has just begun, so get wisdom up and judging asap, and throw some vengeance dots on the main dps target. Holy shield > conc atm, cuz it costs less mana and gives more agro @ block! these are the moms where u love ur taunt macro and bubble macro (wich will b rdy for copying a lil below)

Tanking speccs

this is my specc, i chose for the imp retri aura, because it is a great way of passivly increasing your threat and SoC is a very imba judgement for threath, due to it's high dmg. i have been thinking about alot of speccs, but atm, this is my favo one for the role i'm in.

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=qZVMtIx0zxgqzVbxzbb

unkillable specc

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=aVxhMxZV0tIx0zxTqz

this specc gives you the combo between healing and tanking, so that u can still b a good healer (with the gear ofc) and have everything a tank needs. altho building threath with this specc will b more difficult due to the loss of SoC, the fact that you can throw yourself a heal in almost no-time can help at rly rly bad pulls.(;;; Note ;;; i don't rly know if a healing spell gives agro, but i am pretty sure it does get it's benifits from righteous fury)

in my opinion, these are the only two builds will make u able to b a good maintank

OK before ppl start thinking that i have any idea about palas, this is copy/pasted from my old guild and ty Borf for the info Razz
